Porsche Carrera Cup Asia drivers experienced intensed racing at Round 4 & 5 at the Bangsean Street Circuit, Thailand.
Chris van der Drift of Team Formax started the weekend great by securing pole for the start of Round 4 on Saturday. The lead was short-lived as van der Drift was relegated to P3 after Turn 1. While his 2 rivals ahead made mistakes and experienced mechanical problems, van der Drift managed to keep his cool and drove consistently to clinch the win.
Martin Ragginger of Team Porsche Holding followed closely behind to take 2nd.
Chris van der Drift had a respectable P2 start for Round 5 on Sunday. He drove cautiously throughout the race, as he knows strategically that he will take the lead on the championship table as long as he secures 2nd place finish.
Chris van der Drift’s 2nd place finish at Round 5 is enough to propel him to lead the championship tables with 107 points as the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia circus leaves Thailand heading to Sydney Motorsport Park, Australia for Round 6 and 7.
