With the checkered flag flowing for the final time for Carrera Cup Asia 2018 at the Shanghai International Circuit today, Chris Van Der Drift successfully defended his PCCA Championship title and be the first ever pilot to be crowed three-time Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Champion!
Starting the finale weekend with a strong 19-points lead in the championship table, Chris took a cautions approach to Qualifying and secured pole! This superb qualifying performance enable Chris to bag the Championship title along with his Round 11 win.
A hard charging Cui Yue completed the R11 podium on third place, his first podium finish of the season.
An impressive racing from Martin Ragginger started R12 from P3. He successfully executed a superb overtaking maneuver on the penultimate lap to secure the R12 win, and with that, secured his 3rd place on the Championship table.
A whole season of hard racing was fruitful for Suttiluck Buncharoen at the finale R12 race. It was an intense race seeing the Pro-Am Class Championship fight to the wire. While not in the championship fight himself, Suttiluck kept with the leading pack and seized the final podium spot when misfortune struck an opponent.
Cup Yue’s podium appearance won Team Jebsen the Dealer Trophy for R11, while Martin Ragginger’s win on R12 took the R12 Dealer Trophy home for Team Porsche Holding. Team Porsche Holding placed 2nd and Team Jebsen placed 3rd on the final Dealer Tropher standings.
Multiple podium throughout the season bags Li Chao 3rd place on the Pro-Am Championship standings.
While placing 3rd on the Overall Championship standings, Martin Ragginger also picked up the Overall Speed Award.
