Martin Ragginger of Team Porsche Holding started his Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2019 campaign on a high note by clinching pole position for the inaugural Race 1, thus the first championship point of the season. He also started the race cleanly leading into turn 1, but made a mistake and ran wide in the subsequent corners that cost him the lead. From then onwards, he spent much of he race jostling for P2, and only managed to secure his position on the final lap and crossed the line 2nd place.
Situations looks similar for the Pro- Am drivers. Huey Tan of Novu Racing Team topped the timesheet on Saturday, clinched pole position and grabbed the first point on the Pro-Am Class Championship Standings. He made a clean start and lead for the first half of the race, but a small mistake on Lap 8 cost him the lead. Yuey eventually crossed the finish line 2nd.
